    Carissa Francis, LCSW

Carissa Francis is part-owner of Mountain View Therapy Group.  Carissa received her Master’s degree in Social Work from The University of Pittsburgh. Carissa enjoys working with people of all ages, providing counseling services in-person at our Purcellville office or virtually for those residing in West Virginia, Virginia, or Washington, DC.

Carissa uses light humor and warmth to connect with clients and create a safe place for their healing and self-discovery. She is trained in many evidenced-based treatments to empower clients to identify obstacles and build skills to achieve their goals.

Modalities used in sessions will be determined based on the needs of the individual. Some of the most common treatment approaches Carissa uses in sessions are Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), & Mindfulness.

Carissa also has two golden retrievers who are trained as therapy dogs and are available to meet with clients. Research has found the presence of a pet can help strengthen rapport between client and therapist and improve the ability to cope with anxiety, depression, injury, and illness.
