    Tamara Port, LCSW

    Tamara is part-owner of Mountain View Therapy Group. She has 15 years of experience working with families and individuals.

    Tamara specializes in trauma, grief, loss, anxiety and depression. Tamara works with teenagers and adults and   helps them develop coping strategies and tools that can be  integrated into your unique experiences In therapy, the objective is to assist you in experiencing an authentic and fulfilling life.

    Tamara also has professional, and personal experience working with military and foreign service families who experience struggles that are unique to that lifestyle. Third culture kids, multiple moves, unaccompanied posts, deployments, and all that is part of that experience.

    In treatment, Tamara uses a variety of techniques including cognitive processing, cognitive behavioral therapy, sand tray work, mindfulness, play therapy, and bibliotherapy therapy. No two people have the same experiences, backgrounds, or goals for themselves. Tamara’s approaches are flexible and fluid, and tailored to the individual based on their developmental and emotional needs.

    Credentials

    Tamara has Masters degree in Clinical Social Work (MSW) from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Bachelors Degree in Science from George Mason University. Tamara also is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and Grief Counselor (GC).
