Support for Teachers

You take care of so many. Don’t forget to take care of you.

Teaching is meaningful work, but it can also be emotionally, mentally, and physically exhausting. Between lesson planning, classroom needs, student concerns, parent communication, testing, paperwork, and everything in between, it makes sense if your nervous system feels like it rarely gets a break.

At Mountain View Therapy Group, we want teachers to know this clearly:

You deserve support, too.

This page includes a few simple stress management tools you can use during the school day, plus information about how therapy can support educators who are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, burned out, or emotionally stretched thin.

5 Quick Ways to Manage Stress During Your Busy Day

1. Pause

Take three slow breaths before moving into the next task. Even a few seconds of intentional breathing can help your body shift out of stress mode.

2. Focus

Choose one priority. Just one. Let the rest wait for a moment. You do not have to solve everything at once.

3. Refuel

Drink water, eat a snack, stretch, or step outside for fresh air. Your body needs care in order to keep showing up for others.

4. Connect

Talk to someone who helps you feel grounded. A supportive conversation can remind you that you are not carrying everything alone.

5. Let Go

Release what you cannot control and offer yourself grace. Some days are simply hard, and that does not mean you are doing anything wrong.

When Stress Starts Feeling Like Too Much

Sometimes stress is more than just a busy season. Therapy may be helpful if you are noticing:

  • Feeling constantly overwhelmed or emotionally drained

  • Sunday night dread or anxiety before work

  • Difficulty sleeping or shutting your brain off

  • Irritability, tearfulness, or feeling “on edge”

  • Trouble concentrating or keeping up with tasks

  • Feeling disconnected, numb, or burned out

  • Carrying the emotional weight of students’ needs

  • Anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, or life stress outside of work

You do not have to wait until you are completely burned out to ask for support.
