Brenda Oldknow, Supervisee in Social Work
Brenda Oldknow is a Supervisee in Social Work who brings warmth, creativity, and a deep passion for supporting children and families. She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from Walden University and has experience working in substance use treatment as well as specialized play therapy settings.
Brenda has worked closely with youth in a variety of roles, supporting children and adolescents both inside and outside of therapy settings. She works primarily with children and teens ages 4–18, helping them navigate challenges related to emotions, behavior, trauma, and life transitions.
Brenda integrates child-centered play therapy techniques with more direct, structured play interventions, along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, and trauma-informed care. She understands that children communicate through play and thoughtfully creates a space where they can feel safe, understood, and empowered. Brenda also works collaboratively with parents, offering guidance and support so families feel equipped to meet their child’s needs both inside and outside the therapy room.
As a mom of three (and caretaker of three dogs and one cat!), Brenda deeply appreciates the joys and challenges of family life. Outside of work, she loves arts and crafts and plays several musical instruments, creativity and connection are woven into everything she does.
Brenda is committed to helping children and teens build confidence, strengthen coping skills, and feel more at home in their own stories.
